Long-serving Llandrindod photographer given Sheriff’s award

AS SHE prepares to vacate the office of High Sheriff of Powys, Rhian Duggan has presented a number of hard-working and valuable community individuals and organisations with High Sheriff Awards throughout the county.

Among those to be recognised and receive an award from the outgoing High Sheriff is retired freelance photojournalist Ernie Husson, from Llandrindod Wells.

For more than 50 years, Ernie has supplied Powys’ local newspapers with photographs and stories around the Radnorshire and Breconshire area.

Last year he also received a a Silver Kite award from Powys County Council.

In making the presentation to Ernie the High Sheriff said: “This is in recognition of great and valuable service to photography, press and publicity.

“The award also recognises the appreciation of the residents and people of the said High Sheriff’s county for activity and contribution in enhancing the life of the community.”
